We started with soccer and basketball. Volleyball, flag football, run clubs, and racquet sports are rolling out next — with most real-world group activities (climbing, board games, and beyond) on the longer roadmap.

Yes. The discovery feed, host tools, and rating flow are all designed to be one-handed and fast. The entire experience lives on iOS and Android — there's no desktop product today.

Is the app free to use?

Yes — downloading thump! and joining games carries no fee from us, and there's no booking charge. Some hosts do set a price on their own game (always shown up front before you RSVP); see Payments and pricing below for how that works.

What happens when a game is full?

Tap to join the waitlist. The moment someone drops, the next person is auto-promoted, notified, and added to the roster — no host action needed.

Can I control how last-minute a waitlist spot reaches me?

Yes. Each waitlist spot can carry a minimum notice window. If a seat opens closer to game time than the notice you set, thump! skips you and offers it to the next person — so you're never pulled into a game with less warning than you wanted.

How do recommendations work?

Your feed learns from the games you join — sport, time of day, distance, intensity — and sharpens over time. The more you play, the better it surfaces the runs you'd actually show up to.

Do I need to be experienced?

No. Every game carries a clear intensity tag — casual, semi-competitive, or competitive — so you know what you're walking into. Casual runs welcome beginners; you can step up as you grow.

Will I be reminded before a game?

Yes. thump! sends automatic reminders 24 hours and 4 hours before start to everyone confirmed, so a game never sneaks up on you. Hosts also get an extra heads-up 48 hours out if their game still needs more players.

Does it cost anything to use thump!?

Downloading thump! and joining free games costs nothing, and we don't add a booking fee. Some games carry a price set by the host — it's always shown right on the game card, so you know exactly what a run costs before you RSVP.

How do I pay for a paid game?

At launch, paid games are paid directly with the host — cash, Venmo, or however they prefer — and thump! simply displays the price so there are no surprises. Paying for your spot inside the app is a feature we're building for a future update.

Can I charge for a game I host?

Yes. When you create a game you can mark it as paid and set the price. For now you collect that payment directly from players, and thump! shows the amount on your game so everyone knows the cost going in. In-app payouts are on the roadmap.

What happens to my money if a paid game falls through?

Because paid games are arranged directly with the host today, any refund is worked out with them. Hosts are expected to give at least 24 hours' notice when they cancel — and cancelling late or no-showing as a host hurts their reliability standing on thump!.

Can I host my own game or activity?

Yes. Anyone can host. Pick the sport, set the spot, time, intensity, and roster cap, and publish. thump! opens RSVPs, runs the waitlist, sends reminders, and gives you one clean view of who's in.

What host controls do I get?

Roster caps, auto-waitlists, skill notes, recurring games, RSVP cutoffs, and one-tap removal for no-shows. You can also keep games private and invite only the people you choose.

How do I handle no-shows?

BPM (covered below) prevents most no-shows on its own. You can also mark them in the post-game flow — repeat offenders quietly lose the ability to RSVP to similar games over time.

What is BPM?

BPM (Behavioral Performance Metric) is a quiet trust signal — not a leaderboard. It rises when you show up on time, play fair, and leave a game better than you found it; it slips when you flake or wreck the vibe. Hosts use it to keep games reliable.

How does the swipe-based rating flow work?

After every game, you see the players you played with, one card at a time. Swipe right on the ones you'd play with again, left on the ones you wouldn't. About ten seconds, fully anonymous — it feeds straight into BPM.

How long do I have to rate after a game?

You have 3 days — 72 hours — after a game ends to confirm it happened and rate the people you played with. Once that window closes, ratings lock and the game moves to your history.

Is my BPM public?

No. Your exact score is never shown to other players. Hosts see a simple reliability indicator when reviewing RSVPs — enough to make a good call, never a public scoreboard.

What if someone consistently plays badly with others?

Players whose BPM drops far enough may be limited from higher-intensity games, or temporarily blocked from RSVPing. The goal isn't punishment — it's protecting the games for the people who do show up.

Who can see my profile?

You choose. A Public profile is visible to any thump! member; Friends Only shows non-friends just a trimmed-down card. You can switch between the two anytime in settings.

Is my contact information shared with hosts or players?

No. Your phone number and email are never shared with other players — everything from RSVP to game-day coordination happens inside the app.
