Product Designer

About the role

Design at thump! is mobile-first, opinionated, and quiet. The product is at its best when it gets out of the way — when finding a Tuesday-night soccer game feels obvious, when hosting your first session takes ten taps, when post-game rating is so light it doesn't feel like a survey.

You'll partner directly with the founders and engineering on flows that touch real games, real hosts, and real cities.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end design of major flows across the thump! app.
• Drive the visual and interaction system — typography, motion, components, empty states.
• Prototype quickly to test ideas, then sweat the details on what ships.
• Partner with research and product on user interviews, usability sessions, and gameday observation.
• Help define and uphold a design language that feels modern, clean, and editorial — closer to Hinge than to most sports apps.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of product design experience on consumer mobile products.
• A portfolio that demonstrates strong craft on shipped work, not just concepts.
• Comfortable owning visual, interaction, and product thinking — not siloed into one of them.
• Strong written communication; able to write a brief and lead a critique.

Bonus, but not required

• Experience designing for community, marketplace, or social products.
• Motion design fluency in Figma, Rive, or After Effects.
• Personal interest in the kinds of games thump! is built for.

Compensation

$160,000 – $200,000 / yr base salary, plus meaningful equity in every full-time offer.

Base salary range for the Los Angeles metro. Final offer depends on level and experience. Includes meaningful equity. California pay range disclosed in compliance with SB 1162.
