City Launcher, Orange County

About the role

City Launchers are how thump! actually shows up in a new market. You'll be the first person on the ground in Orange County — recruiting hosts, showing up to games, knocking on doors at courts and rec centers, and building the kind of early community that makes the next thousand users feel inevitable.

This is a get-out-of-the-office role. You should expect to spend most of your week in the field, on the phone, and at games.

What you'll do

• Own host recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing relationship management across OC.
• Show up to games. A lot of them. Use what you see to inform product and operations decisions.
• Partner with marketing on local launches, sponsorships, and partnerships with venues, leagues, and local sports communities.
• Run small, scrappy local events that give early hosts a reason to use thump! every week.
• Be the first line of feedback to the product team on what hosts and players actually need.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of community, partnerships, or operations experience — ideally in early-stage startups, marketplaces, or local sports.
• A track record of building real relationships, in person, with people who are not your friends already.
• Strong communication and follow-through. You return the text, you show up on time, you do what you said.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Orange County, with reliable transportation across the county.

Bonus, but not required

• Existing network in OC sports, leagues, or recreation communities.
• Comfort with light data — pulling a list, reading a dashboard, sending a survey.
• Personal life that includes playing or organizing recreational sports.

Compensation

$95,000 – $125,000 / yr base salary, plus meaningful equity in every full-time offer.

Base salary range for the Orange County metro, plus performance bonus tied to launch milestones and meaningful equity. California pay range disclosed in compliance with SB 1162.
